About True Grit Ride

The Community Services Clearinghouse Guild is excited to host the 6th Annual True Grit Ride 100.  The TGR offers a challenge for cycling enthusiasts to push through the elements and persevere through a day of pure cycling endurance.  It’s called the True Grit Ride because it’s a ride with “grit!”

TGR100/MTB/5K Run/Walk benefits the Community Services Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse is a well-established, non-profit organization located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, that provides emergency assistance to families and children in need throughout seven counties in Arkansas and Oklahoma. The most well-known program the Clearinghouse offers is the Meals for Kids backpack program, which distributes over 2,500 sacks of weekend food each Friday to children who otherwise would go hungry before returning to class on Monday.

If you are wondering, “what’s in it for the rider besides a day of dripping sweat, aching muscles, and pure exhaustion?”   Our answer is the best adrenaline rush you have ever had - topped off with the most exciting sense of accomplishment that only an avid rider knows as that internal rivalry between the rider and road is met as the finish line is crossed and it can finally be declared, they are now in that elite group of riders, they are now a rider with TRUE GRIT!”   --- If that is not enough we have an extensive group of volunteers working hard to keep you safe, nourished, hydrated and just plain pampered as you ride from one aid station to another.  You will enjoy a wonderful “pulled-pork” cookout at the end of the ride with some of the best sweet tea the south has to offer.  We also pride ourselves on having one of the best goody bags around and try each year to include one unique TGR collector’s item in each bag such as the embroidered towel included in the 2012 goodie bag.  Rest assured we have our grit together just for you!

Route Distances:  Road Ride 10, 28, 42, Metric Century 62 and 100 miles, the Mountain Bike Ride is a 15 mile guided Mountain Bike Tour and the newest addition is the 5K Walk/Run. We offer a course for riders of any skill level.
